Greetings:
Our ASIS Northern New Jersey Chapter X111 is resuming its Chapter business despite a pandemic that had taken the life of our Past Chairman Michael F. Bucci and stifled our attempts to host and participate in meetings and activities. Our Chapter, chartered in 1957, dedicated to Security Industry Professionals shall resume and continue to serve the northern New Jersey regions including Counties of Hudson, Bergen, Passaic, Essex, and Union. Our mission is simple, to Advance Professional Security Worldwide.
Our past Chairman, Michael F. Bucci, was a Security Professional who dedicated 37 years of his life to the Security Industry; 28 of those years as a member of the Northern New Jersey Chapter. He continually volunteered his time as a mentor, committee chair, treasurer, and Chairman. Due to his support and leadership, ASIS NNJ Chapter membership has grown significantly, our meetings have become learning and networking opportunities, our golf outings have facilitated business opportunities, our annual Law Enforcement luncheon solidified our partnership with the law enforcement community and our New Jersey City University and Bergen County College Security Symposiums advanced professional and personal friendships.
The passion of Mike Bucci inspired the Board to resume Chapter meetings this year via Zoom. Since February 2021 we have had 2 Chapter meetings; the first presenter was Dr. Daniel Coss, Capitol Police Emergency Management Specialist, who discussed Domestic Extremism. Our second meeting presenter was Brian Higgins, a renowned Security, and Public Safety Consultant, who reviewed and summarized the highlights of the recent GSX conference.
Our meetings are also an opportunity to accumulate certification points toward the ASIS Professional Board Certifications that include Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP) and Professional Certified Investigator (PCI). The chapter continually provides guidance and support to attain and retain professional board certifications.
Moving forward; we are in the process of rebuilding our ASIS NNJ website to promote our Chapter meetings, activities, and professional opportunities for our members.
Secondly, we are planning to host our third meeting on May 6, 2021, at 8 am. The speaker for our upcoming meeting will be Leo McGuire, retired Bergen County Sheriff, who will discuss the provision of security for the Cannabis industry, a trending business, required to maintain compliance with state and federal law.
Thirdly, ASIS Northern New Jersey Chapter is hosting a golf outing on Thursday, June 3, 2021. The outing will be the 1 st Annual Memorial Golf Outing in memory of Michael F. Bucci, Chairman, Posthumous. Attached is a brochure that includes information for golfers and sponsors.
Lastly, we are planning our annual Law Enforcement Luncheon in the fall of 2021. Our luncheon exemplifies our support for law enforcement while honoring those police officers who placed their lives in harms’ way protecting others.
In closing, we encourage all members to participate as their personal time allows. We solicit our members to promote the Chapter activities either through volunteerism and mentorship opportunities, meeting participation, and/or member recruitment.
The ASIS Chapter has been strong through the years; let’s build on the strength and resilience of those members who gave their time and efforts to sustain the ASIS Northern New Jersey Chapter.
